Spent the past couple months looking at rental listings for a move this month, and it’s crazy how many complaints I saw in apartment reviews about faulty fire alarm systems.
This was actually one of the many reasons I moved out of a pretty large-ish building on Capitol Hill years ago, alarms going off as late as 2am, sometimes twice in a night after being given the all clear. Plus it was always a disaster with a cat at the time.
I could never figure out why it always happened… randoms trying to gain access to units/package rooms while everyone leaves? An abundance of people who think it’s a funny prank? Or truly a malfunctioning system?
It’s something I keep an eye out for in reviews, and just surprised at how many units I decided to pass on even touring because I read multiple complaints about it. This wasn’t even an issue back in my college town where you’d maybe expect people burning stuff…
Anybody know what’s up with this?
