I know that similar questions have been asked here before (why doesn’t Seattle show up on national tours for bands sometimes) but this is specific to stadium shows. We have two nice large stadiums (T-Mobile, Lumen) that seem to me to get very few touring musical acts. While Climate Pledge arena is pretty well booked up, the stadium shows don’t seem to tour up here as much. I know there is a show tonight, but over the whole summer there are three bands total at T-Mobile and two at Lumen.
Stadium tours going elsewhere but not Seattle this year include:
Beyonce
Shakira
BLACKPINK
Paul McCartney
Chris Brown
Some of these I can see the case for not coming to Seattle (Shakira’s tour is heading back to Mexico after she does the US SW so it doesn’t make geographic sense), but others are kind of baffling. For example, we have tons of kpop groups coming through Seattle at Climate Pledge and even Tacoma Dome this year, so clearly we have a strong fan base, but BLACKPINK is only playing LA. Also, I would find it very hard to believe we couldn’t fill a stadium in Seattle for Beyonce, she’s very popular.
Anyway just wondering what your thoughts are on this. If I’m wrong and we have a totally normal amount of shows at our stadiums, just let me know. Happy to be wrong, but also happy to get any explanations you know of.
Thanks!
