Young man impersonating an officer

So last Wednesday night around 9:30pm I stopped off for gas at the circle K off Aurora. I pulled up to the gas pump behind a baby blue bmw, a young (early 20s) black guy gets out, I notice he’s wearing a police vest that says “off duty military officer” otherwise normal clothes. I got a weird feeling, I notice he goes into the store and comes out with nothing.

I was getting gas, I only got a few gallons to get to work in the morning. I see the guy come back out to his car and he’s staring at me, he said “how many gallons of gas did you get” I said “3” and he said “can I please fill your tank” I said “no thank you” he said again kind of firmly “please let me fill your tank I’m trying to do something good” I got a really weird vibe so I said “no thanks, I don’t need it” and got into my car, locked it, and left.

I told my boyfriend what happened and he said I should report it to the police, so I called it in.

I just can’t stop thinking about it, his whole energy gave me chills. So I wanted to post this and see if anyone else has had this happen or as a PSA for any one getting gas off Aurora.

Also — I am a 27 y/o female and at the time of this incident I was just wearing sweats and a hoodie with my hair up.
