Can I put this beast away for the winter now? I am grateful for this (largely useless) monstrosity, mostly. I just don’t want it in the way any more.

I get that Seattle wasn’t built for A/C units, but the searing, scorching, blistering sun that I get in my apartment in the late afternoons is wild. I’m shocked that people say it wasn’t that bad 10 years ago!

I moved here recently from South Florida and I actually love the weather here so far (we’ll chat again after the winter and rain seasons). However the apartment windows are casement windows that only take the A/C vents with a velcro gasket installation bit. It’s fine in theory but only fits in my bedroom and when the sun gets going hot it really only cools about 3 square feet around the bed.

Mostly my terrace is open and only fans are on with just fresh air, but for the hottest days I turn the beast on and put a fan in the door to move cool air into the main rooms, it keeps the room from being an oven but it’s still hot in the whole apartment.

Anyways, I’m ranting pointlessly and I’ll be fine, but you see I store her by the window because any other storage is on the other side of the apartment not easily accessible in a pinch and I want her out until there’s no more chance of my apartment becoming a toaster oven. So, can I put the big Bertha away now in a closet or will it get hot again on the hill?
