More SeaTac complaining: ever had TSA bug you for “random extra screening” while sitting in terminal waiting for flight?

Anybody else seen this before?

My flight was delayed so I’m sitting here with an 45 extra min to kill, reading on my e-reader (actually I took a quick break to do a Duolingo lesson to keep my streak alive haha, not sure if that’s relevant but I had my ereader on my lap). A TSA guy comes up to me “excuse me sir you’ve been randomly selected for additional screening, please come with me.”

I didn’t respond happily. I was firm and direct but not rude IMO. I was confused and had to ask him what he said because my AirPods were in, then I asked something to the effect of “I’ve been ‘randomly selected’? Do you just look around until to see somebody you want to select or does a computer pick a seat location or something? I’ve never heard of this before, This is extremely disruptive, I’ll cooperate ofc but I don’t like it.” And I packed up my stuff and went with him. He was babbling things, like “it’s called security” and I swear he said “you wanna see disruptive you should try going to combat” or something cringey like that.

The rest of the group was nice enough, they swabbed my e-reader and I was done in like 10 seconds. I did tell them “I know this isn’t your decision etc but I don’t like this at all, I don’t understand how you ‘randomly select’ somebody after we’ve already passed security”. I’m confused about the response, he said something like “you were randomly selected a long time ago” but then something like “you were in the section that was randomly selected and you happened to sit right near the side” which seems contradictory but idk I’m tired.

What the hell was this? Have yall experienced it before?
