If you’re bored, spend a night at scarecrow rental and rent a dvd like in olden times. Not affiliated at all (I don’t think they’d ever hire an influencer), just longtime fan. One of the reasons I love living here, Scarecrow is THE largest public digital library on earth.
Not only the last and the biggest of Blockbuster-type places, but they are also non-profit curators. If you try to remember something you watched 30 years ago, the employees might help you find it. If you already suspect they might not have something, you can look it up like any public library, and the website will tell you exactly where in the store it’s catalogued. They are experts in film. They watch everything, and can give recommendations.
I encourage everyone who is bored with mainstream media, who doesn’t want to stream, decided to cancel subscriptions, or who likes watching tv but wants to support local businesses, to go to Scarecrow in the U district. I’m starting to enjoy watching things again after making video store visits like the good ol days
I’ve never done this so idk how they operate, but if anyone non-local read this far and is looking for a rare film, they mail as well!
