The people… they YEARN FOR THE PAINT MAPS. And we yearn to keep you informed on what’s happening across the state this weekend (it’s a lot). The biggest impact is the full closure of northbound I-5 through Seattle. The good news? When it reopens Monday morning, all northbound lanes will be open through Seattle for about a month as we pause major work during World Cup games. Here’s the breakdown for June 5-8: – NB I-5 in Seattle will be FULLY CLOSED between I-90 & NE 45th St starting at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, June 5, through 5 a.m. Monday, June 8. Beginning at 9 p.m., Friday, on- and off-ramps along this section of northbound I-5 are scheduled to begin closing. The express lanes will remain northbound-only through the weekend. At 5 a.m. on Monday morning, June 8, the express lanes will revert to their regular schedule of southbound in the mornings and northbound in the afternoons/evenings. Swipe to slide 3 for a visual of the exact closure area. – We’re also closing up to two lanes in both directions of I-5 in Lewis County near the Thurston County line, between Koontz Road (MP 69) and the SR 507 interchange (MP 81), but don’t worry! These closures are nightly from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. for paving. This work will continue through Fall 2026. – SR 433 will FULLY CLOSE (briefly) on the Lewis and Clark/Rainier Bridge from 8-9:30 a.m. for the annual Rainier 2 Longview 10k. – WORK POSTPONED: The SR 18 closure at the I-90 interchange slated for this weekend (June 4-8) has been POSTPONED due to rain in the forecast. Headed to Rüfüs Du Sol this weekend? I-90 Vantage Bridge is OPEN June 5-7. Consider it a Sundream. From now through the Fourth of July weekend, all lanes of the bridge will be open Friday through Sunday with periodic lane closures in both directions during the week. After that, the bridge will go back to full-time lane reductions. There’s a lot going on this weekend and travel through Seattle will be challenging. Remember to plan ahead, check the travel maps in advance, know your route before you go, and give yourself extra time! submitted by /u/wsdot |
