The Governor issued a state of emergency before today’s winds hit, and unfortunately he was correct in doing so. 🙁 There are a TON of fires especially in Eastern WA and big chunks of Spokane itself are burning, along with many other smaller cities and residential and farm areas. It’s so bad that several sites are crashed from internet traffic: here is a working though not-that-updated page from KXLY.
Let’s be ready to send all the help we can soon: and DON’T LET HERE BURN. Please keep an eye out for ANY small fires and IMMEDIATELY call them in. Check for lens-effect smoldering from clear bird feeders, glass yard and garden decor, etc. Don’t be throwing ANY smoking things anywhere: yesterday I was stunned to see the driver in front of me chuck a still-burning ciggie out his window. >:( I had to slow and make sure indeed nothing caught (luckily it was driver’s side, and stayed on the asphalt). BE SAFE folks, and let’s be ready to send those affected some help.
