Single millennials, how often do you date here?

Seattle has a reputation of being antisocial and stand offish but this also seems to be an all around 2026 thing regardless of where you are in the US. It feels like now it’s just hobbies, work, and pets for those of us mid 30’s-40’s single uncs. I have a pretty big friend group of married couples in their later 40’s to mid 50’s who are confused why I’m in my mid 30’a and have been single these past few years, while not having any interest in changing that. I find it’s difficult to explain to the older generation.

I was chatting with a couple of women at work the other day about this and they said they literally never get approached by men anymore. They’re in their late 20’s to mid 30’s and are attractive, and I told them that myself, as well as a handful of other guys I know don’t feel comfortable approaching because we’re aware of how often it makes women uncomfortable and then we deal with potentially making them feel uncomfortable as well as potentially being ridiculed for making an advance that might be interpreted as harassment. There’s no shortage of horror stories about men being creeps and making women feel uneasy, so I think a lot of us share the mindset to just play it safe and embrace our single lives without any drama. But I also know we crave intimacy from a biological perspective.

I’m wondering if that’s just my own experience along with the few friends/coworkers who I’ve discussed this with. Just curious what your dating experience here has been and if it’s different here in Seattle in comparison to other parts of the US/world.
