Are you missing a black cat with a black harness on Capitol Hill??
I was coming home from work and saw a black cat running across pike between summit and bellevue. My bf jumped out of the car and got close to it and saw it was wearing a black harness. He was able to pet the cat for a minute and I ran to get a cat carrier and some treats but by the time I got back it bolted and my bf was not able to hang onto it. We weren’t able to get a photo since it was a black cat at night hiding in bushes the entire time.
We lost it for a while and found it again on boylston and Pine and after it ran into some bushes on E olive and boylston we were able to get it to eat some churu and almost able to catch it but every time we got close a person would try to come up. We started having some very scary interactions with people and the cat ran away.
It got friendly again outside the Corinthian and was eating treats we threw it and rolling around in the dirt and climbing bushes and we felt like we were gaining its trust but again, an ill intentioned person started trying to fight us and my bf had to literally fight him off.
Last we saw, the cat ran onto the roof of city market. I wanted so badly to catch it, but it was clearly unsafe for us to stay out. It felt like it had gotten to the point that the cat had started to trust us but we kept getting harassed by people on the street and almost got robbed once and got into a physical fight with another.
If this is your cat, I’m hoping this helps at least to know it was seen and where it was roaming by 3:30am. I hope so badly it is able to be caught. I’m terrified of it getting hit by a car.
Edit in case anyone is worried: we did not chase the cat. It always ran when other people approached and we always kept a safe distance unless it seemed comfortable letting us approach or came towards us.
