I’m in Seattle and hired Eco Electric to replace 4 outlets (2 GFCIs + 2 standard). They charged me $1,700, which is over $400 each for outlets that retail for $20. The work took them less than an hour.
Before they even left, I realized I got completely hosed on the pricing AND workmanship.
As soon as I started using the outlet they “repaired,” my living room lights started flickering when they never did before. Instead of addressing it, the company claimed I had “loose connections” throughout the house (with no proof) and pushed me to sign up for a $10,000 “upgrade package.”
I had another licensed electrician check (MOGOVOLT) — they said the work should have been under $500 total and confirmed there are no loose connections.
At this point, I feel scammed. I’ve filed complaints with the state and am considering small claims. What would you do in this situation?
I have reached out to them and they said that they would come look at the flickering lights, but at this point, I have no trust.
I am trying to negotiate a $1k+ refund from them but am not sure what leverage I have at this point aside from filing negative reviews and complaints with the Contractor & Licensing board + State Attorney General.
Also, no need for flagellation – I know it was idiotic not to get a second quote. Never again.
