I’m making this post a few days out after the last amber alert that went out as to not cause confusion. I’d complained in this sub around 10 months ago about the EAS using Twitter, which is notorious for allowing inappropriate comments on emergency alerts and requiring an account to view tweets and updates: https://www.reddit.com/r/Seattle/comments/1mbz0ra/emergency_alerts_really_shouldnt_use_twitter/
5 days ago, there was an amber alert with an attached link. I clicked it expecting to be taken to Twitter, Facebook, or some other social network that requires an account to view posts like usual. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it instead took me to the official Washington State Patrol website: https://u.cubeupload.com/squabbled/Screenshot2026052600.png I’m not sure when they made this change but it is very much appreciated as they had been using both Twitter and Facebook previously.
Really glad to see that this change has been made. That is all. Stay safe.
