Hard to make friends in Bellevue? (venting)

Is this just me or is it hard to make friends in Bellevue? I’m an Asian male, age 38. I’ve been living here for 8 years and I’ve tried going to all these meetup groups. There’s a meetup group for mostly Asians. I won’t name the group but I think it’s one of the biggest ones on Meetup.com. IYKYK

I’ve even tried board game groups and it just feels like people don’t actually want to make friends. They just want to go there to experience the high -the dopamine of interacting with people, doing the activities together. It doesn’t feel like people actually want to have conversations. People say that they want deep connections but it doesn’t feel like they are actually want to do it, because it requires SMALL TALK

When I go to this Asian meetup groups that’s mostly Asians – mostly Asian guys. It’s pretty obvious that they are straight because, based on my experience, gay guys tend to be nicer to me just because I’m a fairly good-looking and fit Asian. The Asian guys in this Asian group don’t really want to talk to me. It feels like they’re thinking, “What do I get out of this? What’s the point of talking to you?” when they talk to me, but when I see them talk to an Asian girl in the group, suddenly their energy is totally different. They are so smiley and energetic and so interested. I used to be very committed to this meetup group, but it doesn’t seem like they’re actually there to make friends. It feel like the Asian guys are there to just find a date

I hear a lot about Seattle freeze. I want to think that’s not true but it’s more and more apparent to me that it is real. I talked to some friendshere, not close friends in Seattle, but they are friends that I see a bit more regularly than a normal person. Apparently It’s a real thing
