I made a calculator/visualizer for SCL’s new Time of Use rates [OC]

Seattle City Light is introducing an optional new Time of Use rate where you can choose to pay more for energy used during “peak” hours (5–9pm) and less during “off-peak” hours (midnight–6am). I wanted to see whether this would save me any money, so I created this calculator tool to compute prices using both the current flat rate and the TOU rate.

Unless I did my math wrong, it looks like the results for me are basically a wash 🤷 I might be able to save money by trying to shift my usage to the off-peak hours, but with an electric heat pump, it may not be possible to shift the majority of usage!
