I have a seizure disorder, and I hadn’t had an incident in public in 2 years, until last Friday. The last thing I remember is walking up Broad toward Denny (next to the Cisco building), and the next thing I remember is waking up lying on the sidewalk with the EMTs and ambulance there. They took me to Virginia Mason, where I got a CT scan (concussion) and a lot of medical assistance to stop the bleeding, because apparently I decided to stop my fall with my face and that wasn’t the greatest idea. A week later, I’m doing much better, my nose is still a bit rough but it’s healing and all the other scrapes and bruises are healing too. There shouldn’t be any long-term damage. Anyway, if you called 911, thank you. I know it’s not the easiest thing to do, you’re out walking the dog or going to a bar or getting home from work or whatever, and suddenly this unexpected thing happens and you have to react. I have been in situations where no one does anything, it’s easy to pretend you didn’t see anything, or blow it off as just some junkie passing out (another thing I’ve heard). But you did right (or multiple you’s, I don’t know, I was very out of it, or as we say ‘in a post-ictal state’), and I thank you for it. Have a good weekend.
