I’m going through a really tough time right now due to changing meds and the end of a close friendship and just a lot of other things and I’m considering voluntarily checking in to a psych ward. I’ve seen people talk on here about Harborview and Swedish but I’m just confused about what the process is to go there. Do I have to call 911 and go to the ER first? Can I just show up? Do I cal ahead? If I do go to the ER, do I get to choose where I get sent or referred to? I’m really stressed about the idea of getting sent somewhere terrible against my will because I’ve heard horror stories of that happening. Honest to g-d I’m terrified to do this but it’s getting to the point where I don’t really have a choice. Someone please tell me how this works and reassure me that this is the right choice.
