Lost health Insurance: 4 day notice Updated my income after job loss.

I’ve been paying for marketplace healthcare coverage for nearly 4 years. Now my coverage is ripped away and I don’t know where to turn.

I lost my job mid-June 2025. Today, on the 26th I went into my state account and saw I was expected to update my current income. With no job and only getting my application for unemployment in today as well, of course the income field would be deducted to zero. I felt weird about hitting submit after making the changes, so I called in seeking clarity in specifically, “what the effect of submitting my new information would have on my existing coverage” I had thought I might now become eligible for some of the deductions that would lower my monthly premium ($550/mo). However, I wanted to make sure I wasn’t going to mess anything up or affect my policy.

I was approved for Apple Health, (horary!.?) though I did not want to pursue enrolling in alternate coverage at this time. Then I was told that my existing coverage is now set to be canceled 6/30/2025. 4 days away.

I was not able to go back, request out, have credit check pulled or provide bank statements to prove I can continue paying through the end of my previously agreed upon term set in open-enrollment at the start of this year. Just ripped out from under me. I wasn’t able to be provided with anything of a straight answer in regards to re-enrolling within the next month, if/when I were to have my UI application go through or secure a new job. The representative at wahealthplanfinder had essentially nothing to offer in reply/advice/direction, aside from “You can call your Legislators

My job had a plan provided, but I sought elsewhere via wahealthplanfinder.org. This decision was specific to receive a level of care I sought to pay into monthly for certain coverage offered through Kaiser Permanente, and the worthwhile option being the ‘Gold’ tier.

I have been on a surgery waitlist for the past 11 months, to a surgeon in-network and out-of-state. I have had a full care team in use submitting referrals, advocating for my treatment, and even having my trip expenses paid. My surgery date is (was) less than 2 months away.

I haven’t seen evidence of anyone else mentioning this, so to spread the knowledge, I: /cross-posted in r/Washington
