Walked up to my parked car and had a couple approach me in a car telling me that they had called the police and filed a report that I was hit their car while parking. I work from home and haven’t left my house in days so when they said I hit their car while parking last night I knew that was a lie, and they had a business card from a police officer with “incident #########” written on it with a note with today’s date on it stating I hit their car and needed to give them my name and pay for the damage.
I got in my car and drove off, if they filed a police report then I’ll just operate through them rather than the two people screaming at me that I hit their car and they had “evidence” which was a photo of their clearly chopped parallel parking job with their back bumper pressed against the front of my car. No damage to either car from what I could tell.
Is this a scam anyone else has ever heard of? I looked up the incident number on the state patrol website and nothing came up.
