PSA: Coyote at Surrey Downs Park

Coyote at Surrey Downs park this morning (7/4) 6 am aggressively pursued us and our small dog. The coyote was originally chasing a bunny at the park, but decided our dog would make a better meal. It kept trying to get around me to my wife — it was clearly starving. I’ve reported the incident to the city. I feel bad for the creature, as there can be no good outcome when coyotes arrive in urban areas. But for those who have smaller dogs, beware. And especially do not let your small dogs off leash, for their own safety. And for those with outdoor cats, or backyards where they let their small dogs out, be aware that coyotes are now in the downtown area.
