In 2020, Washington’s Republicans ran Loren Culp for Washington’s governor. During that period, Culp was being sued. That lawsuit stated that he used his powers as a cop of Republic to protect his friend, Roy Moore, of raping a child for 10 years. Roy Moore admitted to the rape and the lawsuit was settled for $275,000
Now, Washington’s Republican party wants you to believe that they are “protecting children” by adopting Initiative 001 and 638. Why should we believe that they would “protect children”, when they would allow someone to run for office while being actively under investigation for protecting a child rapist? Do we know that Culp actually did it? We don’t know. But the mere fact that Washington’s Republican party were more than happy to run a man who was being actively investigated for conspiring to cover up a child sex crime should raise alarm bells for everyone, especially parents.
Initiative 001 is an extremely harmful initiative. It claims to “protect children”, but does the complete opposite of that. It puts children in much greater danger by allowing schools to make their own call on what they “deem” as a severe enough crime to report to parents, with “deem” being used as the basis for the change in law. I don’t know about you, but I was bullied heavily in school as a child. Bullies do not start with large crimes against children, they commit small crimes to see what they can get away with, and then build to the large ones. This Initiative allows schools to brush off small crimes that would otherwise notify parents that their child is being bullied. Furthermore, Initiative 001 gives parents the “right” to access children’s medical and counseling records at any time. If a child is being investigated for abuse or rape by a parent, this will allow the parent to open the school’s books and see everything that is being done behind the scenes to protect the child. A parent under investigation can further abuse a child if they find out about the investigation. And any child of abuse can back up that it does happen.
Case for LGBTQ+: The main drive for Initiative 001 is the idea that conservatives are giving parents their “rights” by allowing parents to be informed of any attempts to “transgender” the child. As it stands right now, schools are allowed to know if a child is transgender, and are allowed to use their names and pronouns if the child requests it. However, many conservatives go so far as to believe that schools are crossdressing and even performing sex reassignment surgeries in schools. First off, sex reassignment surgeries are major surgeries that take hours to perform and take a month and a half to recover enough to perform daily activities (a year for full recovery). If sex surgeries were happening in schools, there’d be more than enough evidence of it happening. Also, the idea that children are being crossdressed in schools is also absurd. We live in the age of phones and children would be taking photos. Finally, pronouns and names hurt absolutely no one and pushes no agenda. It is a courtesy to a child. Finally, many of these anti-transgender laws that target children leave in loopholes to force sex reassignment surgeries on infants who are intersex. They also allow loopholes to keep permitting circumcision, the removal of healthy male tissue, and the coerced/forced removal of healthy male breast tissue for cosmetic reasons (gynecomastia). Furthermore, the bills have included loopholes to allow girls under the age of 18 to get breast implants (source).
Why would a child hide that they are LGBTQ+ from their parents? 1 in 3 children experience physical abuse after coming out (source). 40% of America’s homeless youth are LGBTQ+ (source). Read that again, that is 40% of ALL homeless youth in America. Almost 75% of homeless transgender youth report being victims of child sex trafficking (75%)(source). Why would an LGBTQ+ child hide things from their parents? To protect their lives. This bill doesn’t “protect children”, it exposes them to conservative anti-LGBTQ+ parents who have high rates of physically abusing their children and kicking them to the streets so that they can be sex trafficked. That’s the “parental rights” that the Republican party is fighting hard to preserve, the “right” to abuse their children, and every other child in our schools.
Initiative 683 relies on the claims that Washington’s transgender youth are sexually abusing girls in schools in locker rooms, that they are dominating in sports, and that they are stealing scholarships from girls. The Republican party is claiming that they are “protecting girls”, but the reality is the exact opposite.
Did you know that transgender children have been able to participate in school sports in Washington since December, 2008? (source) That is nearly 20 years of data for Washington state. And what has happened in those 20 years? 0 reports of sexual abuse in locker rooms. 0 reports of transgender students dominating in the girls’ division. 0 reports of any girl losing her scholarship to a transgender student. I would post sources, but I can’t cite a source for a report that doesn’t exist. The claims that Republicans are making are delusional. They are made up fantasies that don’t exist after 18 long years.
Initiative 683 is also extremely dangerous to non-transgender girls. The claims of genital inspections are absolutely true. The initiative makes it clear that doctors will have to examine the girl before she can participate in sports. Worse yet, if a girl is excelling in sports, and a rivaling parent claims that the girl is transgender, it can put the girl under the needle even more. Outrage on Facebook could blossom and the child would then be subjected to further medical invasion in order to prove she is not transgender. That means deeper searches of her body, and things like chromosomal testing. Which, chromosomal testing starts at $200. However, that test is incredibly unreliable and produces false positives. The cheapest test that results in the lowest false positive rate is $1,200. And it will not be the Brian Heywood or the Republican Party jumping up to pay for all of these “socialist” medical bills, it will be a burden put on the parents simply because they gave birth to a girl. It is a medical invasion put on girls simply because they are girls. And this Initiative can be used to weaponize attacks on girls, making it so that they are intimidated out of sports by the party that is “protecting women’s sports” by throwing sex toys on WNBA courts, telling us that women don’t deserve to be paid fairly, attack female athletes who are victims of rape (Simone Biles), and will massively disrespect women’s sports and female athletes every chance they get when not talking about transgender athletes (source). Republicans are not “protecting girls” in sports, they are protecting their “right” to harass girls and control them. They don’t want girls playing sports, they want girls to grow up and become domestic slaves for their households, and they will use doctors and claims of imaginary transgender children to make sure girls are too scared to play sports.

More so than what any Democrat has done, including Rick Larsen, who is pro-Flock (source). Please vote against both of these initiatives and hold the Republican Party accountable for their crimes against children and America.
