What even was/is this blue net thing at the Pacific Science Center?

I went to the science center many times as a kid but never checked this thing out. I always assumed you were supposed to jump down into the net and then climb your way out. I never would have done anything like that as a kid (even after being told it’s safe). I could be wrong, though. Maybe it’s for something else.
