We spotlight community volunteering opportunities now and then – and have been asked to share this unique one with you ASAP:
Calling All Creatives and Party Decorating Enthusiasts!
Do you love decorating, brainstorming creative ideas, and bringing a party theme to life? The Center for Active Living, located in West Seattle’s Alaska Junction, is looking for volunteers to join its new Rainbow Bingo Decorating Committee! The Center, which serves adults ages 50+, hosts six Rainbow Bingo fundraisers each year, drawing more than 160 guests for a fun-filled evening hosted by Seattle’s fabulous drag-bingo queen, Miss Sylvia O’Stayformore! Each event features a unique theme, with recent favorites including Gilligan’s Luau, High School Prom: A Night to Remember, and Rock of Ages. The year’s final event, Candy Cane Lane, takes place in November.
We’re looking for 4–6 creative volunteers to help brainstorm, plan, and bring these themes to life through tabletop, ceiling, wall, and staircase decorations. The commitment includes a 1–2 hour planning meeting, approximately 2 hours of decorating on event day, and helping take down decorations the following day. Volunteers will work alongside a Center staff member throughout the process. No purchasing or financial contribution is required — just your creativity, enthusiasm, and willingness to help!
