Family and friends will gather November 7 to remember Daren Atwood, and are sharing this remembrance with his community now:

In Loving Memory of Daren W. Atwood
July 7, 1984 – September 27, 2026

With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Daren W. Atwood, who died at his home on September 27, 2026, at the age of 42.

Born in Seattle on July 7, 1984, Daren was the beloved son of Donald and Dolores Atwood. He attended West Seattle Montessori School, including his middle-school years, followed by West Seattle High School and South Seattle Community College.

Daren had a wonderful sense of humor, made friends easily, and was always the life of the party. He loved working on cars and spending time in nature, especially hiking and camping. He loved people and was always willing to help anyone in need. His humor, kindness, and friendship will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.

Daren is survived by his parents, Donald and Dolores Atwood of Seattle; his brothers, Derek and Duane Atwood, both of Seattle; his uncle, Larry Scarborough of Cascade, Idaho; his aunt, Nancy Scarborough of Bremerton; many cousins and friends; and his beloved dog, Dante.

A celebration of Daren’s life will be held on November 7, 2026, at 2 p.m., at the West Seattle Montessori Enrichment Building, 11220 16th Avenue SW. Parking is available in front of and behind the building, with additional parking at the main campus, 11215 15th Avenue SW.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Washington Trails Association in memory of Daren Atwood.

Daren’s ashes will be scattered at his favorite camping spot on Tinkham Road. He will always hold a place in the hearts of those who loved him.

Arrangements entrusted to Emmick Family Funeral Home of West Seattle.
