An up-and-coming local musician with a familiar family name captivated a full house at Easy Street Records on Tuesday evening, as Olivia Vedder took the stage for an in-store performance as the streets of West Seattle bustled on Election Night.

Vedder performed songs as a warmup for her upcoming tour dates (including three in California this weekend) supporting fellow Seattle artist SYML, who himself performed at Easy Street just a few weeks ago and who also joined Vedder onstage on Tuesday night for the last two songs of her set. That’s SYML pictured below, in the hat, on the left:

One of the songs they performed together, as the final song of her show, was Vedder’s new single “Show Me the Truth,” which was included on a limited edition 7″ record that’s for sale at Easy Street. Here’s a video snippet of that performance: Olivia Vedder performs “Show Me the Truth” at Easy Street Records.

Vedder was introduced by Easy Street owner Matt Vaughan, who said he has fond memories of Vedder growing up in the neighborhood but also growing up in his shop as an Easy Street employee for several years when she was a teenager. Vaughan read an excerpt from a letter of recommendation (which Vedder later said she had never heard or read before) that he had written to a college on Vedder’s behalf and lauding her as an amazing employee and person:

Vedder then took the stage and performed an intimate set of music, some of which she said was releasing “in like two hours” for the first time:

Vedder also performed songs from the soundtrack of the 2021 film Flag Day, directed by Sean Penn and featuring music by Vedder and her well-known father Eddie Vedder (of Pearl Jam fame) as well as the late Glen Hansard. One of those songs was “My Father’s Daughter,” and here’s our video: Olivia Vedder performs “My Father’s Daughter” at Easy Street Records.

The crowd spilled out onto California Ave:

And was promoted outside on Easy Street’s familiar signage:
