about a week ago my car got impounded for supposedly having a registration over 45 days expired. funny thing is, my oregon plate doesn’t expire until october 12, 2026. so right off the bat, the impound was bogus.
i get to lincoln’s yard and just getting to my car is an ordeal. it’s parked all the way down a steep hill with no real walkway. i nearly tripped, ended up tweaking my back catching myself. the whole place is covered in dust, thick enough that it triggered breathing issues.
i get to my car, a bmw x3m, not exactly a beater, and there’s massive damage on it. damage that was not there before. i came prepared because i already suspected they had no legal basis for the impound, so i started documenting everything and had a complaint ready to go.
after i finish inspecting the car, apparently they forgot to have me sign some form. they tell me to walk back up the hill. i tell them no, they can bring the paper down to me. instead of doing that, the guy uses a forklift to lift my car to block me from leaving. in the process, he damages the car even more. he finally gets a call on his walkie-talkie saying they can let me go, and he drops the car back down. violently.
Just filed a suit today and had their agent served (this is gonna be a fun one)
