Reservation canceled on me

Hi all,

I am wondering what I should do. I’m going to be living in Seattle for a month in October/November. I found somebody willing to let me rent their backyard cottage. She confirmed my stay and wanted me to Zelle her a deposit by 9/1. I Zelled the deposit yesterday (8/14) and emailed her that I did so, and right after, she emailed back saying that she was canceling on me because somebody who was renting in September decided they needed to stay until December. Her justification is that she didn’t hear back from me after I asked for the Zelle information, and she didn’t think I still wanted the place. Is she allowed to do that? Is there anything I can do?

Edit: I feel like it’s important to say that the owner came from a list of housing options that my school gave me, where other students have stayed in the past
