We’ve been updating postseason success for local high-school students, and have a West Seattle HS Girls’ Swim and Dive Team update to share from WSHS athletic director Corey Sorenson:
The West Seattle High School Girls Swim and Dive Team competed in the Seattle Metro League Championships over the Halloween weekend.
WSHS was represented by seniors Anna Baekkelund, Iris Christian, Keara Kinch, Sally Klem, Eden O’Donnell, Matty Ogle, Lisa Willis, juniors Brin Darnell, Lily Nguyen, sophomores Leia Al-Jawad, Avery Forcum, Emily Hill, and freshmen Noelle Burgess Simms, Lily Bute, Maddie Conway, MJ Emerick, Sarah Godfried, Ivy Jones, Evelyn Nguyen, India Prince, and Sienna Woolley. Though unable to attend the meet this year, Leigh Gentry, Alina Luff, Song Montanez, and Edie Vautier made outstanding progress this season.
We’re happy to report eight swimmers advanced to the finals with O’Donnell claiming her second consecutive Metro League title in the 500 freestyle (5:13.03). She also grabbed third in the 200 freestyle (1:57.64).
This weekend, O’Donnell, Klem, Christian, Ogle, and Nguyen will advance to the District Championships, swimming the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays. O’Donnell will also swim the 200 and 500 freestyle.
Go, Wildcats!
